These fabulous units have front swiveling seats and two forward facing travel seats with lap and diagonal seatbelts for child seats to be fitted. New touch screen sound systems with bluetooth enables you to set up your phone and play your own music while travelling.

This is a mid-premium motorhome with all the facilities you need for a proper New Zealand road trip, summer or winter. The cabin is fully insulated, so you're not limited to the warmer months.

The oven is worth calling out specifically. Most campervans at this price point don't have one. Being able to cook real meals cuts down costs noticeably over a longer trip.

It's comfortable and spacious enough that you won't feel cramped after day five. Use soft luggage — you can unpack everything into the storage compartments at the start of the trip and not live out of bags the whole time.

The vehicle is certified self-contained, which means you can plan some nights freedom camping. That said, you'll still need to connect to a powered campsite roughly every second night, so factor that into your itinerary.

The trade-off is cost and availability. The premium features come with a higher daily rate, and these vans can be hard to find — especially in peak season. If you see it available at a good rate, book it.

First-timers can absolutely hire this vehicle, but make sure you're a confident driver. It's significantly bigger than a standard car and handles differently. Before you leave the depot, ask the staff to walk you through the blind spots, check that your route is suitable for the vehicle's size, and get a demonstration of the bed set-up if it's your first time.
