The Dream Sleeper Mini is the ultimate in small vehicle camping in New Zealand. Featuring front swivel seats that add more living space and extend the bed length plus provide greater head room while seated in the vehicle, LED lights inside above the high quality kitchen area in the rear enable new levels of comfort. Extra storage is provided under the fridge so valuables can be secured away, built in reversing camera makes manoeuvring easy and bluetooth connectivity enables you to listen to your favourite music.

The Dream Sleeper Mini is Spaceships' take on a high-end flat-top camper. You get a premium feel without the premium price tag — it sits at the budget end of the range.

One thing that doesn't show up in the specs: the front seats swivel. That gives you a bit of extra living space when you're parked, which makes a real difference in a smaller vehicle.

That said, this is still a flat-top camper. The living area is compact, so you'll want to spend most of your time outside — make the most of the outdoors and treat the van as somewhere to sleep and cook, not somewhere to hang out all day. After day five, that mindset matters.

The one trade-off to know before you book: the Dream Sleeper Mini is not certified self-contained. You'll need to stay at campgrounds with toilet and shower facilities. Freedom camping isn't an option with this one.

First-timers do well in this vehicle. It's the closest thing to driving a regular car, so if you've never driven a campervan before, this is a comfortable place to start.

One tip as you head off: keep on top of the tidying. In a smaller van, clutter builds up fast. A few minutes each morning keeping things organised makes the whole trip more comfortable.
