The Budget 2 Freedom is a great compact 2 berth campervan that's perfect for couples wanting the essentials without breaking the bank. Being a 2017 model, you'll get a better price than newer vehicles while still having everything you need for a week-long trip.

You get a proper toilet and shower, 2 burner gas stove, fridge, and a comfortable double bed. The touchscreen tablet, remote keyless entry, and anti-theft security system add nice touches you wouldn't expect in this price range.

First-timers will feel comfortable behind the wheel thanks to the reversing camera, cruise control, and ABS braking. The manual transmission and 2.5 litre diesel engine are straightforward to drive.

The trade-off? Fuel economy isn't great — expect around 9 litres per 100kms, which adds up over longer distances. Pack a power board so you can charge all your devices, since power outlets are limited.
